Ratings
There are two main types of ratings; Fire and Burglary Rating. Fire ratings have a baseline internal temperature that the contents can withstand for a certain amount of time (ex. 30 minutes at 1200 degrees). With burglary ratings there are letter ratings and UL ratings. An example of a letter rating would be a B-rated safe, these are entry level due to it’s thin steel plating. UL rated safes tend to be for commercial high security applications and are based on the resistance time of a forced entry, examples include TL-15, and TL-30. Now which makes the most sense, burglary, or fire? Usually, businesses in the Denver metro area will opt for burglary protection. A quaint home in the Colorado mountains will want to focus more on fire protection.
Styles
Let’s dive into the styles of safe you can choose from. The styles we see are floor, wall, gun, depository, luxury, vault, cash management, and jewelry. Although, these styles are fairly self explanatory, they are either assigned to a business or residence. It is likely you will not see a cash management safe inside a home. Most cash management safes are on timed access to delay, and account for local police arrival times in the event of a robbery.
